In the coming months, the Yolo County Transportation District (YCTD) will be making Yolobus service changes to bring you a better bus experience!

Improvements to Intercity Route 42A & 42B

Due to recent and unanticipated driver and staffing shortages, the Yolo County Transportation District (YCTD) has delayed the planned launch of Yolobus Route 42A/42B service improvements, including increased service frequency during peak hours and routing changes in Davis and Downtown Sacramento. Current Route 42A/42B paths and schedules will remain in effect until further notice.

Once Yolobus has secured enough drivers to reliably operate the planned service changes, we will announce a new launch date. Updated information will be communicated through this website. Alternatively, you can sign up to receive email updates about all Yolobus service changes or follow YCTD on Facebook and Twitter.

More details about the Route 42 changes that will take place at a later date.

Woodland changes

In 2022, YCTD will be making changes to local Woodland routes and introducting new citywide microtransit service. More details about the Woodland changes.

Permanent service reductions or eliminations on underutilized commuter and express routes

On September 12, 2021, YCTD permanently eliminated service on the following commuter and express routes in order to re-allocate resources to more heavily used services:

  • Route 44 Davis-Sacramento Express

  • Route 232 Davis-Sacramento Express

  • Route 242 Woodland-Davis Commute

  • Route 45X Spring Lake (Woodland)-Sacramento Express

  • Route 46 Spring Lake (Woodland)-Sacramento Express

  • Route 242 Woodland-Davis Commute

  • Route 243 Spring Lake (Woodland)-Davis Commute

On September 12, 2021, YCTD also permanently reduced service on the Route 230 (Davis-Sacramento Express). The Route 230 now makes only 4 trips per day (2 AM trips + 2 PM trips).

Click on Davis, West Sac, or Woodland for more details about these service eliminations and reductions, as well as alternative travel options in each community.

Note that all of the remaining express routes that were not eliminated as part of YoloGo (43, 43R, 45, 230) were temporarily suspended on September 22, 2021 due to the driver/staffing shortage. This suspension is temporary and Routes 43, 43R, 45 and 230 will return as soon as staffing levels allow.

Why is YCTD making changes to Yolobus services?

These service changes were recommended as part of the YoloGo Study, a multi-year effort to determine how Yolobus transit services can better serve our communities. The Final YoloGo Report was approved by the YCTD Board in April 2021 and is available for download here.
